Duration: 4 days and 3 nights.
Period: The whole Year, advisable (of April to November).
Type: Trekking.
In antiquity in this place there were snowy mountains which started a defrost process getting form small lagoons, in some years these lagoons overflowed and that mountain which supported the lagoons collapsed making a kind of a rocky beach where the inhabitants of the area adjusted themselves to live. They made some small stone fences in the whole rocky beach and they called Cancha Cancha (fences). We will be able to observe three lagoons in the mountain where the slip began.
Itinerary
DAY 1: CUSCO - PATACANCHA - ARRURAYCOCHA
We will pick you up from the hotel to move by bus for 3 hours until arriving to the sector of Patacancha (4010 meters above sea level.), from this place we will begin our walk visiting Patacancha and Willoq, places where we will be able to appreciate people's life style and we will be able to offer the children also the things that we can take, we will have a guided visit to the handmade centers in which you will be able to buy some textiles, which are being treated with natural pigments and the designs are also original. Our camp place will be in the area of Arruraycocha (4120 meters above sea level).
DAY 2: ARRURAYCOCHA - TAMBOHUAYLLA
In this day during the walk will be able to observe the mountainous range of Urubamba, observing Pitusiray and Chicon glaciers, also we will enjoy the lagoons and the fauna , such as the Huallatas, the duck of the torrents, deer and others. The camp of Tambohuaylla will be the coldest because the temperature will descend until the -5 centigrade grades so it is recommended to take warm clothes.
DAY 3: TAMBOHUAYLLA - LARES – AGUAS CALIENTES
We will walk for about 2 hours until Lares Hot springs, place in which we will enjoy thermal waters, we will eat lunch there. In the afternoon we will take the bus towards Ollantaytambo, from this place we will move to Aguas Calientes town by train. We will spend the night in a hotel.
DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHUPICCHU - CUSCO
After breakfast we will go toward Machupicchu by bus, in this place we will enjoy the guide's explanations for 2 hours. In the afternoon we will return to Cusco City by train, arriving at about 8:30 in the evening.
